A tournament that sounded like a throwaway on the schedule turned into one of the most fun PGA Tour weekends in a while and it might’ve introduced the next real name in American golf. We’re breaking down the 3M Open, where a 21-year-old Jackson Koivun didn’t just hang around on Sunday, he out-executed with Scottie Scheffler charging and pressure screaming on every hole. We talk through the shots that mattered, the putts that flipped momentum, and why his decision-making looked way older than his age.

From there, we zoom out to what one win can change: FedEx Cup standings, PGA Tour playoff paths, and how quickly the sports world tries to crown a new star. We also hit the team-event chatter around the Presidents Cup and why roster depth feels completely different depending on which side you’re looking at.

And because golf never stays quiet for long, we dig into the Lucas Glover controversy that lit up the timeline, including what actually happened with metal spikes, spike marks, and why AimPoint got blamed anyway. Then we pivot into summer’s other big conversations: LeBron James to the Philadelphia 76ers, what “healthy” really means in the NBA, NFL training camp opening up, and the fantasy football itch that makes you join one league too many.

If you like golf podcast breakdowns, sports debates that feel like a real hang, and a little chaos in the middle, this one’s for you. Subscribe, share it with a friend, leave a review, and tell us what’s your biggest overreaction of the week?

Welcome And Summer Check-In

Graham

Welcome to another episode of the Bald Guys on the Bench podcast with your hosts Graham Cohen and Scott Wasco. What's up, everyone? Welcome back to another episode of the Bald Guys on the Bench. Scotty Waa. Oh my god, it's hot out here. It's the middle of summer. How you doing, brother?

Scott

You know what? For once, it ain't that hot here in Virginia. Sheesh. I mean, we did get about seven million inches of rain on Thursday and Friday, finally. But uh, you know, the weather's actually pretty cool. I mean, and to be quite honest with you, right now it's 74 degrees, uh, which is crazy time, being it's the last week of July. But anyhow, Graham, we're not here to talk about the weather. Maybe you are. I'm not. Uh, let's grab one, let's crack one. Let's do it, bro. Let's go.

Shout-Outs And Tough News

Scott

Before we even get going talking weekends and stuff, we gotta give a couple shout-outs. Uh Kyle Shanahan involved in that crazy accident, which was on the 14th, I think, of July, which is so crazy. We were talking about earlier that it just came out. But hearing from you know, Chris Sims, Chris Sims and him are like boys, right? Just listening to it, dude. He almost lost his eye. Like eyes, yeah, dude, it's bad. Awful concussion, like, not good things, you know. So speedy recovery. I mean, he's not at training camp. You know, it's bad. So that's nuts. And then the news that came out this morning, dude, Eric Bienamy, the old Chiefs offensive coordinator that left and went to the Washington and then came back. And dude, his wife got shot by their son.

Graham

What?

Scott

In their house in you know, Virginia, because remember, he was her OC. Yeah. But dude, I heard the news this morning on the way to work that she got shot, and then I hour later I hear the news that it was their son. I'm like, what the shit? I know, right? Wild, man. Wild. So hope the best for all that. And I had no idea the Shanahan thing was as serious as it is until I just saw a thing on from Chris Sims. I knew they were boys, but it was just like, wow.

Graham

But uh Yeah, I saw something the other day about it, and they I mean they didn't get into specifics, but they made it sound like it wasn't like a scratch type of thing.

Scott

40-some stitches on his face, ribs broken, wrist broken, concussion, like no bueno.

Graham

Could be a healthy scarf for TV. Shoot those sidelines.

Scott

But man, I don't know. Craziness.

Birthday Drama And Weekends

Scott

But anyhow, uh just wanted to throw that out there. Uh weekend, I know you worked a lot because I didn't talk to you after like Thursday, maybe, except for a couple texts of guy and owls and shit like that. Oh, real quick though, Andy, happy birthday. Grammar police. Everybody knows him on the show is grammar police. Graham failed, didn't wish his boy a happy birthday. You know, sorry. And this is a guy that Graham introduced me to.

Graham

I I know when your birthday is. So it's just I I don't know. I I just Andy, it's safe now. So next year on the 26th, I'll wish you happy birthday. Happy, belated. My bad, bro. I was at work all day. When I say literally all day, I was there all effing day, and it was long, but that's still not an excuse.

Scott

I didn't know. My bad. Dude, is it you have this thing right beside you? How long does it take? Happy birthday, bro.

Graham

I understand that. Did anyone say in the text thread? Did anyone say in the auction league happy birthday? Did anyone say in would you look at that? Or I mean any of the things?

Scott

We were testing you.

Graham

Yeah, and I failed. Whoopity do day.

Scott

My bad.

Graham

I'm sorry, I feel like shit about it. But hey, it's safe now, it won't happen again.

Scott

Love it. Love the breath early. So, anyhow, back to your weekend.

Graham

Heavy, heavy with work. Yesterday was a long day. Had to get up early because I had to rent a truck so that way I could go pick up an entertainment stand because your boy got a new 75-inch TCL TV, and it finally got delivered today. And let me tell you, the kid's happy. It is sweet. And by waking up early, what time was that? 8 30. That's early, bro. Well, for me at least.

Scott

Okay. I just wanted to ask you the question. That's all.

Graham

You get up at 7 30 all the time. Like you saying early would be like 5 30 in the morning. I get up at 1 in the afternoon. So 8 30 is early. Okay. All right. Um, yeah, so pretty much work, got the TV situated. I'm all excited about it. Looks good in the living room, and I'm happy. How was your weekend?

Scott

Uh, it was good. It was actually solo. Me and Tori, Kristen, and the kids went to see my mom up in Connecticut Wednesday night. Yeah. And unfortunately, we got about four inches of rain on Thursday and about four inches of rain on Friday. So that was kind of miserable. But it is what it is. We needed it. Then uh played a little G on Saturday. Uh tried to get out of it because it was raining then, too. And, you know, your boy

Rainy Golf Weekend Stories

Scott

don't play golf in the rain. Living in Southern California for that long, dude. No, ain't playing in the rain. Just wait until tomorrow. It's gonna be 75 and 20. Ain't happy right. But, you know, I got guilted into it. Like literally, I'm in the car, went and got adjusted on the way, and my chiropractor's going, You're really going to play in this? And I'm like, Yeah, I know. Picked up a little breakfast sandwich uh at the bagel shop.

Graham

You gotta tell the listeners why you had to go. It wasn't ready. I was okay.

Scott

And so got a little bagel sandwich at New York bagel, and I'm like sitting in the car eating it, and I'm like, this is miserable, dude.

Graham

Like, I'm not trying to do this.

Scott

Like, I hate the rain playing, and it's not like it's a heavy downpour, it's just that miserable rain. Yeah, you know what I you know what I mean? But anyhow, I texted him. I'm not playing, I'm not cool with this. Oh, dude, like every golfer, oh, the radar looks great. You know, it's coming down sideways, like Kai's asking. Oh, I keep playing. The heavy stuff ain't coming for quite a while. Yeah, okay. Anyhow, get a text back, dude. Your wife and kids are out of town. What are you gonna do? Just sit there and I can't sit down there all day.

Graham

I know what you're gonna say.

Scott

And I'm like, all right, mother, I'm going. And of course, it's with Taylor. And I'm like, son of a whatever. I go. Then I get there, and you know, old man, as I've gotten older, TP and I were talking about it earlier. Like, I gotta hit 10 balls, 15 balls before I play. I just want to loosen up. I don't even care how I hit them. I just want to swing. Right. Because of all the rain, range is closed. I'm like, wonderful. Whatever. Play golf, didn't play well in the rain. It only rained on us a couple holes. So I was actually told Kristen, I'm glad I went and played because of the weather. Got better. But it was a fun weekend. Got to hang out with TH. Uh, little party next week. Uh, coach is coming into town before he gets back to the grind. So little birthday party for coach next uh Saturday, I think. Oh yeah. You know, it is what it is. Uh had some fun, had a bunch of drinks. Went and saw my boy Johnny yesterday. Johnny's going out moving on August 7th, going to Ohio, which is crazy.

Graham

Yeah, I remember you saying that.

Scott

Yeah, it kind of sucks to lose a boy. But uh, you know, other than that, weekend was good. Uh watch some baseball, watch some golf.

3M Open Turns Electric

Scott

You know, last week as we got off air, I was like, have fun watching the 3M, you know, kind of as a joke. Well, it turned out to be pretty awesome. Yeah. And one reason it was awesome was Scotty committed to play, right? And last week we were questioning why Scotty playing there? It doesn't make sense. Well, he said it earlier in the week. Somebody asked him, why are you playing here? And he goes, Because I played the Scottish, I played the British, and now I'm gonna play the 3M three weeks in a row, and then I'm gonna take three weeks off. If I didn't play the 3M, I'd take it'd be four weeks off. I don't like to take four weeks off before FedEx, because he's not nobody, if you're up that high in the standings, nobody goes to Memphis, dude, in August to play the FedEx first leg because it's like surface of the sun hot and humid. Nobody wants to go there. So it made sense, right? You got it. And way to reward the people of Minnesota, dude. They came, they always come out for the tournament, and there's the number one player in the world. You're welcome. And dude, the tournament didn't disappoint. I mean, first day 59. Is that any good? Dude makes a bomb, just hoops it from like 60 feet to shoot 59, and it didn't disappoint. That's all I can say. And Jackson Coivan, dude.

Meet Jackson Koivun The Phenom

Scott

That's all I'm gonna say. The kid is the real deal. Everybody that knows golf has known this kid is the real deal for a long time. And you're looking at your phone, cannot see your hands. We're just gonna do a real quick quiz.

Graham

Oh, well, I like I knew your quiz is coming.

Scott

Yeah, real quick. Let me see your hands. Uh, my guy was freshman of the year in 2024. I'll give you the conference. SEC player of the year in 24, 25, and 26. Where did he play in college?

Graham

Hint. Okay, I like hands.

Scott

They won the national championship this year. Ooh. That made it harder.

Graham

Oh, son of a bitch!

Scott

Do you weren't gonna get this one?

Graham

No, because I saw this like a couple weeks, whenever it happened a couple weeks ago, and I'm gonna be pissed that I missed this. Uh, Georgia. War Eagle. War Eagle. That doesn't help me.

Scott

Oh my god. Smack yourself again. You call yourself a podcast. A war eagle? Auburn Tigers. Don't you know their chant? War Eagle.

Graham

I don't know their chant.

Scott

Oh my god. Smack yourself.

Graham

I'm not smacking, but that's not you know fine.

Scott

Just do it, dude. Because everybody listening right now is going, oh my god, Graham. You don't know because I know. It doesn't make sense. It doesn't make sense. You're the Auburn Tigers and you chant War Eagle. There's not a goddamn bird. It doesn't make sense.

Graham

Okay, I get that, but when do I watch Auburn play to hear them say their chant?

Scott

Oh, it's it's not their chant, it's just like they're sane. Oh, okay. Well, who? Whatever. Yeah. Owl. Somebody that's a co-host on a podcast.

Graham

Okay. Does Andy know what they're what that what that is? Guaranteed. All right, we're asking him after the podcast.

Scott

Oh, he's already hashtag W S. I'm sure. Dude. Anyhow, this kid, I mean, like I said, SEC player of the year, 24, 25, 26. Okay. First player, here's a stat of all stats that I was looking up. Okay. His freshman season, he had one of the best seasons ever in golf history. In 24, he won the SEC Championship, runner-up at the national championship for individuals. Okay. Became the first player ever to sweep all four major collegiate awards in the same season. Ever. Won the Haskins Award, which is Nicholas. Won the Ben Hogan Award. Dude. Number one world ranking in June of 25. And this is that any good?

Graham

Yeah, so he's pretty good.

Scott

Yeah, he's pretty good. And dude, just to go out, I mean the crazy thing, this was his third start as a professional, right? On the tour. I think in the notes, what did I say? He's played in 13 PGA tour events all together as an amateur and as a pro. He made the cut in 10 of those.

Graham

I mean for a 21-year-old kid.

Scott

Right? And dude, his last amateur start was at the US Open at Shinnecock where he tied for low am. And you know, the hype was going, right? Here we go. Professional debut, John Deere, perfect event, the heat's on. MC misses the cut. Like, wow. You know, like, holy shit. Then during the British Open, he played in the opposite field event. What I what I put in the notes, tied for 10th, I think. Yeah. Finished 10th the next week. So his third event, dude. At the 3M, he goes out, and what's he do?

Graham

Oh.

Scott

64, 68, 61, 66. And let's don't forget, uh he didn't make a bogey for the last 42 holes of the event. I and Scotty's chasing him, dude, and lighting it up. And this kid is just nails, dude. He said the entire day people were telling him Scotty's making a run. Scotty's making a run. Scotty's making a run. And he sees it. Dude, the ninth hole, long ass par four, he hit his second shot in a bunker. And if he doesn't make like a nine or ten foot putt for par, he's only got a two-shot lead. And dude just straight hoops it right in the center. I was like, wow, this kid's got balls. And on the front nine, I'm over at Johnny's house yesterday watching it. Par five, five shot lead. He's got 301 hole over water. Second shot on a par five. Five shot lead. Stripe show. Three wood. Like five shot lead. Five shot lead. Over water. Like, come on, bro. Let's hit a little wedge. You know, you got wedge in, you got 120 in, 130 in. Oh nah, I'm just gonna rip City Three Wood and what? Like 12 feet? He actually hit it too good. It went over the back of the green, but he got up and down for Birdie. Dude, insane. And the way he finished on Saturday, he made two Eagles on the back nine. I think he shot 28 on the back on Saturday to shoot 61. Yeah. Like, like, this kid is he's good, dude.

Graham

Good. I saw this thing earlier where Ted Scott was basically saying, like, Scheffler was leading when Queven was coming through like nine or whatever.

Scott

Scheffler was never leading. Or tied. But I saw when he hit his shot on 16, Ted Scott was like, I'm out going to the airport.

Graham

Yeah. That's insane. The caddy for the number one player on the world was just like, yeah, we're out of it. The kid sacked up.

Scott

Oh man. Exciting shit.

Graham

Exciting. But make some noise. I mean, that's exciting for US golf.

Scott

I I just And that's where all the hype was this morning on all the podcasts. Of course. Jim Nance said it last night as he was, you know, getting off air. President's Cups in a month. How good of a player would he be to be on that team? It's time for these young guys, dude. And I agree with everything, but I don't give a shit about the President's Cup, especially now that Live players can't play because it's a PGA tour event. Oh, wow. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, we're gonna wax them. It's not even fun. I mean, do what I mean. Put me and you out there in the lineup, maybe they'll have a chance. Yeah. And and and by that I mean we'll still wax them. But because we won't get a start. But anyhow, dude, I agree, dude. Like my dad and I were talking about it earlier, because I was listening to it, he was hearing it. Dude, think about this and really think about it. And I don't want to take away from this kid doing what he did. But think about the United States team. And you know, I don't care about President's Cope. Our focus is what? Ryder Cup. Right. Right? We have such a big uh group of people to pick from for our team. Young, old veterans. Then you go look at the European team. They really don't. Once Ludwig got on the team, their team was the same two years in a row. Except for one person, and those two people had the same goddamn last name. They're brothers. Think about that, dude.

Graham

Yeah.

Scott

It makes sense, right? What are you gonna do? I mean, yeah, we want to see these young guys out there, but it'd be nice Snedeker, you know, the president's co captain, hey, we're gonna take, you know, Scotty, you know, Cam Young, Wendham Clark's now guaranteed, all these other guys. Let's throw some young guys on there. Yeah, what happens if you lose? Snedeker, you ain't never getting that Ryder Cup job. Yeah. You think he cares about getting experience for future Ryder Cups?

Graham

Yeah.

Scott

No.

Graham

No, I I get what you're saying. Uh not that I want to like push back or anything, but I mean, obviously, this Quivan kid is great, right? Obviously. But I mean, are we already expecting too much from him just based off what happened this past weekend?

Scott

Of course, because it's fresh.

Graham

Yeah.

Scott

Of course. It's the it's the way we are as sports fans. You know, it happened yesterday.

Graham

He went to tournament. We're like, oh, let's put him on the president cups team. Like, uh what?

Scott

The reason is because the way he rolls the rock.

Graham

He made some putts this weekend.

Scott

I'm like, dum. The putt on nine for to save par was stupid. The the 18th hole yesterday with that lead, you know, 18. That's what I'm saying. 18's a part five. It's got water all down the right side. He hit his driver fat with that lead. Like fat. Like hit ground before he hit the golf ball. Yeah. Hit it 244 yards. They showed that was the shortest drive on 18 all week. And he like hits it and he like starts chuckling, lays up, then hits wedge over the green, hits a pretty subpar pit shot, and then makes a 10-footer for par to remain bogey free. The kid he's got balls, dude. And you know, all the tour players, Justin Thomas. I was just watching it, and he's like, I played practice rounds with him. And that's the cool thing that we've talked about numerous times. These kids that have been playing in tour events and are high profile college players, they have access. They get to go play with all these dudes. You know what I mean? You're playing golf at Oklahoma State. Oh, Rick's in town. Oh, let's go play with Rick. You know what I mean? It's like, yeah, it's not, they're not scared like they used to be. They're not on the range going, holy shit. They're used to it, dude.

Graham

Well, I mean, this Quitman kid better not be scared considering he was getting 2.5 mil for his NIL last year. So, I mean. Right.

Scott

The kid is, I mean, he's something, man. He's something. And then after he wins, goes out and it reminded me of Mano, dude. Throwing the line in the lake on 18. Out there for the city.

Graham

Yeah, I saw that on Reddit earlier today. I'm like, what the hell is this?

Scott

I love it, dude. Grounded, I mean, just what else can you say, dude?

Graham

I mean So with this win, he's automatically in so many things now I Two year exemption on tour majors next year. That's insane. Like is he playing the rest? I mean, is he playing next week?

Scott

Is he playing Oh yeah, because he's I think he's 72nd on FedEx Cup.

Graham

He's already 72nd with just this dub and his previous event. Jesus.

Scott

Yep. 72nd.

Graham

Could he sneak his way?

Scott

Yeah. If he plays well. Because we got two more weeks. We've got two weeks left before the playoffs start. We got this week in Detroit, the Rocket, then the next week in North Carolina at the Wyndham, and then first round in Memphis.

Graham

I mean, would it surprise you if he snuck his way into the FedEx?

Scott

Not at all. What's he at? Yeah, he's 70th right now.

Graham

Well, that's what you need, 70, so.

Scott

And is it 70 or 75 gets into Memphis? I don't remember. 70. I know 50. I know 50 gets into the BMW.

Graham

Yeah, it's 70, 50. And then 30, torching.

Scott

30. Yeah. Yeah. So, hey, who knows, dude? Go on a run. Why not? How can you not? I mean, I like it. I like it a lot. But dude, just go back and think about this, dude. The kid, I mean, where is it? Leaderboard. Where? I mean.

Graham

Dude, I I I was only really really able to watch highlights, and the highlights from the whole event, but even just this kid himself. Each round was amazing.

Scott

Scotty goes 64 on Saturday, 63 on Sunday.

Graham

And that's not enough.

Scott

And the kid beats him by three. What? Wild, dude. Wild. But we got two weeks left before this playoff start. And I mean, I don't even know. We're at the Rocket where our boy got his last dub. Romano's been on the bag there twice for wins. With Nate and then Fowler. Somewhere he feels at home. D toit. Fowler's 30th in FedEx. He didn't drop it all after this week. He didn't play, but I was gonna say, I was looking at the leaderboard. I didn't see him in there. Yeah, we need to get in there. So we ain't gotta stress to get to the tour championship. So we ain't gotta stress about those majors next year. So I ain't gotta stress about not seeing my boy at Augusta. Right? Yeah. Big time. We don't gotta stress. I don't have to stress. We aren't in France.

Graham

We we oh man.

Lucas Glover Spikes Controversy

Scott

But you know, something, dude, something that came up, you know, yesterday after was the whole Lucas Glover thing. And we've talked about this on the show because Jerry called me stupid about aim point and this and that, but whatever. Right. That's your that's your opinion. And Lucas Glover's been very vocal about aim point. And yesterday he made a putt and he took his shoes off to go get the ball out of the hole. And everybody instantly is like assuming it's about aim point. And you know, everybody send it to T P I send it to Jerry, and Jerry's like, oh, what a crybaby, Lucas. And then it comes out this morning that it had nothing to do with aim point, that it had everything to do with the group behind him complained to a rules official about him wearing metal spikes, and that there were spike marks all over the green. Well, let's rewind a little bit. Back when you and I were playing golf as kids, the only thing we had were metal spikes. Right. And because I was gonna say something, because morons don't know how to walk without picking up their feet, metal spikes then became what? Plastic spikes.

Graham

Yeah, but you can still do damage with plastic spikes.

Scott

I think worse, to be honest with you. Yeah. And so metal spikes, all the clubs across the world. Nope, you're done, not wearing them. Tour players can still wear them. Well, let's also remember uh the rules of golf, way back when, you used to not be able to do what? Tap down spike marks, and that changed. I wish I knew the exact year, but now you can't. You can tap down spike marks, and these dudes behind him are bitching and moaning about spike marks. And a rules official comes up and tells him. And Lucas Glover was so pissed, and I like Lucas because you know exactly where he's standing with the guy. Yeah, he ain't he it's black or white. Lucas gets pissed because why is a rules official coming up to me when it ain't a god dang rule? Yeah, I love the point, love it. So he makes a putt, takes his shoes off. The only thing better he could have done after doing that was turn around to the guys behind him that complained and like tip the hat. I mean, is that any good? Is that any good? I like it, and you know, the thing he put something out on the gram today. I'm not gonna read it word for word. Lucas did because it's long as shit. But he kept saying Cliff Notes after every like point he made, have I mentioned that we can tap spike marks down now? Like he said it like four or five times. Says something, yeah, yeah, yeah. Have I mentioned that we can tap them down now? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Have I mentioned we can tap them down now? I love it, dude. I love it.

Graham

It has to have been for a while now, right? What? Tapping ball marks down. So when did the rule change so you can tap the spike marks?

Scott

I actually just looked it up while you were talking. Uh January 1st, 2019. So it hadn't been that long. Yeah. If you think about it. Also, the craziest rule, something else that was changed then too, uh putty with the flagstick in. Same time.

Graham

Wow.

Scott

If I was tending it for you and I didn't take it out, even if it didn't hit it, stroke penalty.

Graham

That's interesting. Yeah.

Scott

Yeah. Uh but before 19, you couldn't repair you could repair ball marks and old hole plugs. You could not repair spike marks. Once again, rules of golf. We talked about it last week. Make it make sense. Yeah. The biggest gripe ever from Jack Nicholas was what? Your ball, you hit a ball off the T and it lands in a divot. We have things called ground under repair. Well, isn't a divot with sand in it? Ground under repair? You would think. God, Jack. Oh, he used to go nuts about that. I mean, the 70-second hold Olympic club, Payne Stewart's tied for the lead, hits his T shot in a divot. Lee Jansen wins.

Graham

You know. As sports go on, you would think, as time goes on, rules that need to be changed would change. You would think.

Scott

You would think. I mean, hey, the challenging thing in baseball, I like it. Balls and strikes. It's good. It's working. And it's fast. That's what I love about it. It's fast. Yeah, I agree. Like, like, it's not, let's go up to New York, and uh, you know what I mean? And 20 minutes later, we still don't have a god dang result. Come on, NFL learn something. But I mean, hey, crazy. Something we didn't talk about, dude. Tell

LeBron To Philly Debate

Scott

me. Oh my god, I wanted it's at the beginning of the notes. LeBron. Philly. I told you. That's all I'm gonna say. I told you it was happening.

Graham

You did. I mean, there was a part of me that wanted him to go back to Cleveland just for legacy purposey. Just for legacy purpose. Wow. One more time. I know. Just for the one more time. I was like, that didn't sound right either.

Scott

None of it, dude.

Graham

Just because of his legacy.

Scott

Hey, I'm glad he didn't.

Graham

Because the pressure would have been crazy. The pressure's you don't think the pressure's gonna be worse now? I actually don't.

Scott

Really? Wow. I actually don't. Tell me why. Because they're not gonna win.

Graham

Shit. Okay.

Scott

They're not gonna win a championship in the next two years. Okay, hold on. Rewind. Who do you have coming out of the East? What's wrong with the Knicks?

Graham

They lost a couple pieces.

Scott

What's wrong with the Heat? They don't have a ball handler. I just yes. Do the Sixers on paper? Should they be the obvious favorite? What's the dude's Joel Embiid? As long as that guy's on your roster, like kick rocks, you suck.

Graham

No, I get it. It's the staying healthy. Look, every team is staying healthy. I I get it. Look, do I think they come out of the East? Yes. The West is going to be tough. San Antonio, another year, get stronger, more experienced. Wemby. I like the Spurs. The Timberwolves will have a team.

Scott

As long as Wemby keeps shooting threes, the Spurs are toast. You're nine foot tall and you're shooting threes. Play the game with your back to the to the rim.

Graham

I don't disagree.

Scott

Oh, I'm sorry. You're nine foot tall and weigh 112 pounds.

Graham

Dude, did you see the offseason picks? This dude's putting on some muscle.

Scott

Well, hopefully he puts on more.

Graham

Yeah.

Scott

Sorry. Sorry. I just, dude. The feel-good story would be uh LeBron. Is it feel good? No, no, it's not. It's Philadelphia. Don't care. Okay.

Graham

If it wasn't for the hatred of Philadelphia as a whole.

Scott

No, it has nothing to do with that. Really? It has nothing to do with that. Wow. Nothing to do with that. I like the fact that he took the league minimum. I like that. Well, yeah, he had to. Of course, if he went there. I like the fact that he didn't go to Golden State.

Graham

He didn't want to be in the West. There's too much competition.

Scott

Dude, I just didn't. Uh I don't see that. Whatever. I see I it was either the Sixers or the Heat in my mind. Yeah. But him and Giannis together. I mean, it was whatever his name is. Giannis? Giannis, Giannis. I'll smack myself. Don't care. I'm not sure. I'm not the NBA guy here. Giannis, whatever. Uh I just the J Silent. I just the thing about LeBron with Philly is I think he's really going to help the dude that's always hurt. Yeah, Joel Embiid. I mean he's gonna he's gonna feed him so many easy baskets.

Graham

Dude, LeBron is a facilitator. He's a world-class passer. I mean, he's just gonna be the little bit of glue that's gonna put everyone in the right place, you know, with the experience. If ever like like you said, if everyone stays healthy, and look, it's gonna take time for them to gel together, and it's another one of those scenarios where just make the playoffs.

Scott

What's the god dang it? Who the Knicks or the Celtics trade them?

Graham

Oh, uh can't think of his name.

Scott

Brunson? No.

Graham

No, Brunson's on. No, Brunson's a Knicks. Uh Jalen Brown. Yeah, is it? Yes.

Scott

Who's the other the dude?

Graham

Jason Tatum. It's Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown.

Scott

Who's the other guy for the Sixers that's solid? Max Munc. Muncie.

Graham

Who? Muncie. Oh, sorry, Muncy. Maxie. Tyrone Maxy. Sorry. Not Muncie.

Scott

I was gonna say, don't Max Muncy play for the Doyers? Yeah, sorry. Wow. I'll slap myself. Wow. Uh yesterday on Instagram or Saturday that they're already working out together and everybody's freaking out. And the guy's like, relax. They work out every offseason together. Now it's just crazy because they're teammates. But it ain't happening. Not happening. I'll just throw it out there. They ain't winning this year, and the Rams ain't winning the Super Bowl. There's my two. I wish I could pick against those two teams. I wish there was something where you could like do that. Is this team not gonna win the Super Bowl? Is this team not gonna win the NBA championship?

Graham

I just read earlier today, it was either today or yesterday, Dan Orlovsky said if the Rams don't get hurt, ain't no one beating them. Yeah. And if you're on headballs and what sport do they play? Yeah, yeah, right?

Scott

The yeah, football and injuries. Yeah, you're welcome. Yeah, it's yeah. Gotta stay healthy. To quote John Leovich, my boy, that's you know, we've talked about this forever. John's famous quote, yo, at the end of the year, it's the healthiest team that always goes. Thanks, John. Yes, we know.

Graham

Yeah.

Scott

Yeah.

NFL Camp And Fantasy Itch

Scott

But training camp, a lot of teams reported today. I think all the teams will be have reported tomorrow. I'm excited.

Graham

I'm excited for a couple of reasons. One, there's a lot of free agents still out there that are not bums, that are still looking for a squad. I mean, I was going through the list the other day and I'm like, what? There really is. Like these people, I mean, they're just waiting for training camp. I get that, but hey, you know, I I've said this in previous years on the podcast. You know, one of my pet peeves was not being in a lot of fantasy football leagues this year. I think I'm gonna go back on that. I think I'm gonna be in a lot of leagues this year. I think let me rephrase that. I think just a lot of people have been asking me to be in leagues, but it's just like a lot of these leagues that I've that I said yes to, they're not very expensive leagues, so it's just like I'm like, yeah, yeah, I'll do it. Just because I got that itch right now.

Scott

We exited the San Diego league.

Graham

Yeah, I know, but it's just like old people from the golf course, you know, I got people from the new job, I got people over here asking me, I'm trying to do leagues with this other guy. It's just I don't know. I I just I have a feeling I've just got to prioritize. I'm like, all right, I'm gonna have like three leagues that I really care about, then have about another three or four leagues that are like, all right, I care, and then a couple other leagues that are just like, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm in it, type of thing.

Scott

Speaking, speaking of fantasy football, this is hilarious, you're gonna kill me. I uh I'm in another league that Graham is not a part of. Where is it? Oh god, and I asked Chat GPT what my team name should be. Oh shit. And of course it was a dig at Graham. Where is it, dude?

Graham

Oh, I was gonna say, is this allowed to be played on air? Oh, where is it? Oh, dude. Oh, you can't find it. Oh, too bad.

Scott

Oh, simmer down, don't worry, I'll find it.

Graham

I'm just saying, I got the itch, dude. I'm in a couple drafts right now. Like, I'm doing the same guillotine league that I did last year from the people from the golf course. And last year when I did it, they did the draft back in like May. We just started it. I remember that. Yeah. Yeah. Luckily it was today. But dude, 16 teamer, this is rough. They did a third round reversal. I'm like, who still does that anymore? In a 16 teamer, I'm pick number six. So I have all these players. I'm like, oh, it's coming right back around. I'm all excited. Then did a third round reversal. I'm like, uh, what? This is what I'm like, I can't get this guy. Oh, I was heated. Heated. I'm excited. Got it. Oh, damn it.

Scott

So I asked ChatGPT, what should my fantasy football team name be if I'm joking on Graham living with his parents?

Graham

Wow! What a dick.

Scott

So far, the chosen few. Graham's chore chart. Oh, God. House rules by mom. Mom says set your lineup. That one's pretty good. That's leading right now.

Graham

That's kind of funny.

Scott

It's pretty good. I ain't gonna lie. That's pretty funny. I ain't gonna lie either. Uh mommy's number one draft pick.

Graham

Wow.

Scott

That is that might be the mic drop moment. You are unbelievable. I think is that the one Audrey picked? Yeah, mommy's number one draft pick. Just tell everyone, please. Oh, they're voting, dude. Oh, they're voting. Yeah.

Graham

Hey everyone, I got this for you and that for you. Bing, bing, bing, bing, bing.

Scott

This is the one that I'm not telling you who voted for this. Mom packed my lunch and my lineup. That's too long. You can't do so good. So good. I might even put this out on the gram and do a little poll on the ball, guys on the bench Instagram. Uh Lawless, I need your vote. I mean, I need some people to send me a text. Graham's Allowance League. Oh, dude, raised by waivers.

Graham

That's kind of funny.

Scott

Yeah. Graham's curfew crew. Dude, hilarious shit. But I don't know. Anyhow, you know, it's all in fun, obviously.

Graham

Yeah.

Scott

Uh anyhow. Uh

Deadlines Trades And What’s Next

Scott

Major League Baseball trade deadline coming up next week. Uh a lot of crazy teams and positions to do some wild shit. Uh, I don't know. Golf wrap-up. It's crazy, dude. We got two more regular seasons and then three playoff weeks. Yeah. And then we got a little President's Cup at Medina in Chicago. And, you know, football is right there. Why are you looking at me like that?

Graham

Is that finishing up before the NFL starts?

Scott

Uh, the President's Cup, no. But FedEx, yes.

Graham

Okay.

Scott

Yeah, FedEx tour championships before football.

Graham

Okay, I'm about to say, I'm like, Sunday FedEx or Sunday final NFL.

Scott

Hmm. Yeah. Dude, look at look how pissed Tori is at me right now. She's like, she's so bitter, dude. This has been her look all week.

Graham

Like, like, dad, dad, really?

Scott

Nobody's here. It's time to go to bed.

Graham

Let's go.

Scott

Bitter Betty, dude. Love it. Yeah. But I don't know, dude. What else she got? What do we want to talk about?

Graham

I

Scott

Honestly, I'm tapping out.

Graham

I don't know. Is there something else?

Scott

Yeah, homeboy from Tampa requested a trade today. Vita Vea. And you see what he did. That is huge. You see what he said? With the trade? It was about guaranteed money. Well, he wants to because you know he wants to go to a California team.

Graham

To pay more taxes?

Scott

I don't know. According to from the Athletic Nos Tackle wants to join a California-based team. There's only well I don't know what I don't know what his salary cap hit is. I don't know what his how long his contract is. I have no idea.

Graham

But you got some money.

Scott

Yeah. But we gotta extend to a tooly. We got a lot of dudes. I mean, we got I don't know. Yeah, tell me about it. I'd love to have him, obviously. Yeah. Dude's a stud. Yeah. What's he gonna cost you? You know? Hey, good players aren't cheap. Yeah. On a side note, dude, Trevor, Warning Track. Yeah. Left uh Arkansas. Yeah. And been talking to Albany in New York. Albany U, head baseball coach. D1. Yeah. Rob and I have been chatting back and forth. Uh pretty sick.

Graham

Uh going from the southern heat to the northeast cool. Yeah. Those are two complete opposite towns.

Scott

Right. Exactly. Exactly. Tell me about it. Um, but you know, it's been a hell of a week, ready for the family to get back. It's been too quiet around here. And that's all I got, dude.

TV Picks And Closing Laughs

Scott

Oh Ransom Canyon. We talked about it last week. Have you watched it?

Graham

Absolutely not.

Scott

I watched the first episode because I got sucked into another show. Uh beef. The second season of it. Yeah. The first was amazing. Yeah, the second one. Yeah? Yeah. Dude, I forgot that I had watched the first season. And I like I started watching it, and I was like, season two? Shit. I just skipped season one. And I was like, whatever. Watched it. Yeah. Legit. And went back to watch season one. And I'm like, oh, you dumb shit. You've already watched this.

Graham

Yeah. Well, it's two different stories.

Scott

Yeah. That's what I was hoping. Season two. Wow. It's all about country club in LA. Yeah. And a GM.

Graham

I'm excited. It was good. I ain't gonna lie. I'm assuming you watched it all since you've been by yourself.

Scott

Yeah. Oh yeah. I had eight inches of rain fall on Thursday and Friday. I won't work very long. I mean, not at all. But uh I don't know, man. Uh fantasy is right around the corner. Anyone in the would you look at that league? Uh you might want to start looking at your keepers because when that deadline hits, it's gonna be a hard F you this year.

Graham

Well, the only person listening is Andy, so I mean Badger listens. Yeah.

Scott

Hey Minor, if you ever listen, you know, a response to uh a text would be appreciated. I mean, this little thing right here, this this little thing, is literally within five feet of us at all times. It ain't hard to say thanks, okay.

Graham

The end. Anyhow, Graham, get us out of here.

Scott

It's been a fun week. 3M. Sorry I joked on it last week. It was solid.

Graham

Hey, if that's the case, can you joke on the rest of the tournaments? Maybe the turnout is exciting.

Scott

Hey, the Rocket. Let's go. You know, we're we're rooting for.

Graham

Who are you rooting for? Duh. If you know, you know. That being said, Scott, it's always a pleasure doing the podcast with you. I'm so excited that the NFL is about to start. I'm so excited for fantasy season. I'm just ready to go, bro. So, hey, as the best homie always says, Ba-ba!

Scott

Good night, friends. Good night, Jackson. How awesome is that? You're 21 and you're getting interviewed on the 72nd hole by Amanda. I mean, really? What else do you have to look forward to? Oh, I know. Sports fans out there, you can have another laugh. At Graham. War Eagle. Who didn't know that? You're welcome. I love you all. Bubba
